Hmmm …..

Enough said!

Hmmm …..

We’re not huge fans of travelling later in the day, and so a 4.30 flight to Valencia wouldn’t have been our first choice, but needs must!
Surprisingly it’s a 3 hour flight, and when that’s added to a 2 hour delay, an hour forward in the clocks and too much messing about meeting up with the Uber, we were pretty (extremely) tired when we arrived.
But it’s our first time in Valencia and it hasn’t disappointed.
Great flat with balcony in the centre.

Start with the bling ….

And then a venture out to the science and art museums

We like it already.
After 8 nights we’re on the move. But before we go, here’s where we stayed. A cactus nursery, in a beautiful location, but a mile up an incredibly steep hill to get to civilisation!

Eileen googled “flat walks in Tenerife” and this came up, so more repeat visits. We’d been here before but somehow had missed the beach (which, to be fair, is about a 45 minute walk from the town).
Wonderful place for lunch, although a tad pricey.

Wonderful place for a picnic until a herd (???) of hungry lizards appeared, which ruined the ambience!

Multiple visits, ‘cus we really like it. And El Caleton must be our favourite bar.

Or “Dire coffee at 7000 feet”.
Can’t believe we’ve been to Tenerife about 5 times and never climbed the mountain. Still haven’t climbed it, but you can drive about 2/3rds of the way up to get some fantastic scenery.
And lunch was pretty dire, but there is actually a hotel up there. And loads of visitors – we’re guessing it gets pretty crazy in peak season.

First time for ages that we haven’t been away in January – Jo is starting her next big adventure in New York, and didn’t leave until a few days ago.
But it all seems to be going well, especially as 3 days after she arrived she was hustled off to Oregon for a week. Anyway, back in NYC – can’t wait to visit.
Her apartment and Central Park.

After the trauma (mild inconvenience) of losing the car keys (still a bit bewildered), back to sun, warmth and lovely views.

Just arrived last night. A first day of (well-deserved!!!) R&R ruined (damaged a bit) by me losing the keys to the hire car. Bewildered by how and where, as thought I had been super-careful zipping them up in a pocket in the rucksack. Ho hum.
Spent an hour retracing our steps in Garachico before we resigned ourselves to getting help.
Downsides
But it could have been a lot worse sides
Found a decent place to wait

And stopped for dinner on the way home

Couldn’t finish without more pictures from last Friday. A memorable day.
