Kew

The usual early morning walk showed the world waking up – from ultra quiet before 7.00 to crazy busy by 8.00. Unlike back home which never really wakes up!

It’s a pain to get to from home, but dead easy from here, so had a day out.

Despite not the greatest weather, had a terrific day. So much so we signed up for a year. And worked out it must be 15 years since we last visited.

And a real treat to have so many restaurants within (literally) a 5 minute walk.

A Short Break

This is not the view that we have, but it is the reason for this small escapade.

Jo and her flat mates have gone away to a fabulous villa in Tuscany, so we are having a few days living the high life in their flat.

Coffee on the balcony.

Regent’s Park and then Marylebone High Street – haven’t been to either for years and years.

20 minute tube ride back from Bond Street, and then loads of great restaurants to choose from in the evening – Persian tonight since you ask!

Sunday – Holkham

It’s nice sometimes to go back to familiar places. Met up with Shelagh and Alan at Holkham for the day. Loved the skies.

Saturday

Storm passing through, so a lot of mooching about.

House where we’re staying

Caught the sunrise

And following a few weeks ago, if it’s Norfolk it’s windy and/or vice-versa

Friday 26th April – Mini-Break

Last minute. Checking on availability of accommodation and the weather (impending arrival of Storm Hannah) and have ended up for a long weekend in Norfolk.

Blakeney was the first place on our agenda for lunch and loved the skies.

Aim is for lots of walks and food.

Tuesday – Castles in the Air

As described in the special post, it was Eileen’s birthday which comprised much eating and drinking. And yes, that was a G&T at lunchtime.

The rock to the right of the palm tree has a castle right on top.

Getting closer:

Made it!

Various views on the way up – and again it scores well on the stupendicity/cost ratio!

Then back down to Kyrenia Castle.

And one of the best things is the coastal walk, so repeats of previous views.

Home tomorrow.

2nd April 2019 – Eileen’s Birthday

A special bonus issue for a special birthday.

Breakfast on the Terrace

Yes – that really is a chocolate biscuit.

Coffee in the Mountains

Lunch in Kyrenia

Fantastic dinner at Hurma Restaurant.

It has had a bit of a food theme, but there was some sightseeing as well. Happy Birthday. xxx

Monday – Stymied

Usual. Glorious morning sitting on the terrace. Real difficulties in reading the iPad because the sun is too bright, but if that isn’t classified as a First World Problem ….

Anyway, plans to visit a couple of castles were really stymied by more heavy showers. Indeed, we parked in the car park in Kyrenia for about 20 minutes and didn’t even get out of the car!

But got a walk on the beach later on.
