Friday and Saturday

Just packing up on Saturday morning.  One final reminder of the view from the terrace.
Friday really was settling into the rhythm.
1.  Begin by coffee and reading on the terrace.
2.  Walk to Quemada (see last Sunday – pretty much the same except the tide was out).
3.  Sitting on the terrace in the afternoon.
4.  Dinner at the marina.
So nothing new!  Instead, here’s a random selection to finish.

Thursday

More of a “doing things” day today.  It was a bit cloudier and cooler than we’ve been used to.  Saw the house of Lanzarote’s most (only) famous artist Cesar Manrique.
Then off up to Miridor del Rio in the north of the island.  Cup of tea with quite a nice view …
… and more views.
That’s us!
Then a bit further to Orzola – we think it has seen better days.
Back home – could have been the volcano erupting, but really only another sunset.

Wednesday

So here we are again – blue skies, warm sun and spending the morning doing not a lot.  See pics from previous days for a reminder!
Dragged ourselves out after lunch to the National Park which you’re not allowed to walk in.  They take you on a coach tour and the scenery is certainly different.
But they do provide a cafe with a decent view whilst having tea (no Sangria!).
Then headed north to a terrific beach at Famara.
Sat reading our books on the beach, and we were both inspired to take a very similar photo, so here are both.
And some might agree the selfies are doing ok today …
Might be a bit cloudy tomorrow, so might have to do something different, but we’ll see.

Tuesday

Another day, and more sun and blue sky.  Not a great deal to do apart from read, relax and watch what’s going on in the marina.
Actually you had a lucky escape – I went for a swim in our pool but there is no photographic evidence!
After lunch we did venture out for a walk along the beach.
And then went a few miles inland to Teguise, the old capital.
Interesting scenery on the drive home.
And finally, just to make a change, a couple of brand new experiences:
1.  Saw a submarine – don’t think we’ve ever seen one in real life before.
2.  Ordered a pot of tea and a Sangria.  Interesting combination — no prizes for guessing who ordered what!

Monday

Tricky decisions today.  I suspect we won’t get too many sympathy votes, but it was actually a bit too hot to go anywhere first thing.  We did venture to the end of our terrace looking back at the house …
… and then tried a 180 degree panorama.
And a simple view of the marina.
Anyway, we did venture out eventually.  There are some spectacular beaches near Playa Blanca, although about 3-4 miles along a very rough dirt track to get there.  First stop for a coffee whilst admiring the view.
Then down to the beach – didn’t have a swim.
Then a walk along the headland, and you can see Fuertaventura.
Finally a bit further round the headland to El Golfo for a terrific sunset.
And finally dinner by the sea …
…. with company!
And finally, what you’ve all been waiting for …
Some might even say they’re getting better, although they haven’t seen the ones we deleted!

Sunday

So, we’ve been here for a day.  But just to finish off Saturday, we spent the afternoon by the pool as you might have guessed.
Then ventured out to Peurto Calero for dinner, noting the sunset as we walked.
Choosing from the menu is a serious business, even when settling for paella.  Note the full moon.
Sunday was forecast to be a bit cloudy, so we decided to walk to the next village – Playa Quemada.  Looking back to the marina near our house.
And forwards to the desolate landscape for which Lanzarote is well known.
But we were able to walk most of it next to the sea.
And found a great little restaurant for coffee and lunch.
Where we could watch seagulls and paragliding at the same time.
Lunch about as close to the ocean as it’s possible to get.
A walk back – probably 3-4kms each way and the sun was out so Eileen braved the pool.
Out in the evening to Puerto del Carmen with a terrific sunset.
And for regular viewers, it’s the Selfies …..

Saturday 23rd January

So here we are – blog up and running again.
Main colour is blue  –  the pool …
… And the sky
Not really expecting too many adventures, more relaxation.
