Sunday – 3 of 3

And here it is.
And home again.  Can’t really do the view justice, so will keep trying.
And a bit more on driving, which so far seems to be the most difficult of anywhere.  Combination of:
– an eccentric satnav even though we have it pointing in the right direction
– very aggressive driving – worse than Italy
– incomprehensible small towns and villages with impossibly narrow streets and bad parking.
Ho hum.  No scratches on the car yet!

Saturday 24th March

Hopefully the adventure part of this holiday has already passed, and it is more of a relaxing jaunt.  More of that in a minute, but here we go.

So here we go.  Staying in a lovely little apartment about 40 minutes swest of Lisbon.  As you can see, great views from the balcony.

Two parts of the journey represented a mini-adventure.  Ryanair being the first, obviously.  There is a mild frisson of subversion as the passengers swap their allocated seats so they can sit together, although quickly offset by the discomfort!

Second part is when we pick up the hire car, set the satnav which shows about 50kms, take a wrong turning and it immediately increases to 66.  Followed by utter confusion and going round in circles for nearly an hour, but made it eventually.  Later on discovered the satnav settings had been set to always showing north which makes life extremely confusing.

But had a walk on the beach.

Where the wind had whipped up quite a foam.

If we look back we can see our apartment.

Climbed up on to the cliff walk with fabulous views.  A bit windy, but it is the Atlantic.  If you look very carefully you can just make out a lighthouse just left of centre.  Allegedly the most western point of mainland Europe.

Finally had some great fish at the restaurant on the beach, while the foam was whipped up even further

And not all selfies work ….
