Is where we’re staying for the wedding. Simply stunning. Essentially these are views from our house.

BBQ the night before the wedding.

Sweden – Super Stressful Beginning

And it’s all about car hire as usual. Admittedly I left it late to upload the documents but when I did it said:

1. Driving license needs to be at least 2 years old. After the Spain debacle I had only just ordered my new license so it doesn’t comply. Luckily I had kept the old paper one which is fine.

2. An International Driving Permit (if required). So checked gov.uk which says you don’t need one in Sweden – phew. Then checked the rental company’s T&Cs which says you do if you’re outside the EU. Wish I’d never voted for Brexit πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. Chatted online to the broker who didn’t know the answer. By now it’s 7pm. You can get an IDP from a post office and there’s one at Heathrow. So whizzed down to sainsburys to get the requisite photo. All set – just needed to change the time of the taxi because the PO is at a different terminal but they couldn’t change (and upped the price by 50% while we were on). Found a new firm.

Taxi arrives early, M25 is clear. All going well, despite being mis-directed in T3 but we found the PO. “We don’t do IDPs here….”

Check in and security is a dream – no more than 20 minutes, so now we’re 3 hours early. Plenty of time for a lovely breakfast and an online chat to find out we don’t need an IDP anyway.

It sounds trivial, and it is. But it is super-stressful and I think I need a holiday!
