Sunday 13th October – Royal Parks Half Marathon

A one-off. Not a travel blog but Jo doing a half marathon before she goes off to Denmark.

It was an early start – for thousands as shown by the crush at Green Park Underground at 7.30 on a Sunday morning.

Some action shots:

The last one is only a few hundred metres from the end, but the smile belies the hurting legs.

But she did it:

Happy faces all round and huge congratulations.

Thursday

A beautiful day – starting off on Hampstead Heath.

The Heath really is complicated – got lost again.

Eileen had her usual art course at the Serpentine, so made sense to head off to W1 for an explore. Hadn’t realised quite how big Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens are.

And feels like such a privilege to get back to the flat from Bond St in 15 minutes.

Tea on the balcony.

Chose Lebanese from the many restaurants for dinner before heading home.

Wednesday

Not much today. Visited Apsley House (bottom of Park Lane)

And a very nice brunch in Mayfair (well someone has to!).

Evening at Aon for an alumni event. But we’re on holiday, so a couple of photos of views I have seen many many times before.

Kew

The usual early morning walk showed the world waking up – from ultra quiet before 7.00 to crazy busy by 8.00. Unlike back home which never really wakes up!

It’s a pain to get to from home, but dead easy from here, so had a day out.

Despite not the greatest weather, had a terrific day. So much so we signed up for a year. And worked out it must be 15 years since we last visited.

And a real treat to have so many restaurants within (literally) a 5 minute walk.

A Short Break

This is not the view that we have, but it is the reason for this small escapade.

Jo and her flat mates have gone away to a fabulous villa in Tuscany, so we are having a few days living the high life in their flat.

Coffee on the balcony.

Regent’s Park and then Marylebone High Street – haven’t been to either for years and years.

20 minute tube ride back from Bond Street, and then loads of great restaurants to choose from in the evening – Persian tonight since you ask!
