Monday 23rd – Zion

I assume you’ve all guessed what’s coming.  As sure as day follows night, a sunset is followed by a sunrise (literally).  So here is the view over morning coffee except the other way round to last night.  From the back terrace …
… and the front.
Back to Zion today – about 40 minutes drive from where we’re staying for another feast of scenery and colour.
That’s Eileen in the hat.
Described as a moderate hike in the guide, but reasonably tough for us, we found a decent spot for lunch.
And just for interest, the pointy white peak just to the left of centre has a top to bottom drop of 4,000 feet.
That was us just about done, so back to 1444 Mountain View Drive, Hurricane, Utah for a rest.
Then headed out to a town nearby, St George, for dinner.  It had its Mormon Tabernacle …
… and a drive-through ATM!
Couple of observations:
– in the restaurant, Eileen was allowed to order a second glass of wine – but only after she’d finished the first one!
– the way to get decent American food is to get food that isn’t American (Thai tonight)
– perhaps not surprisingly it’s the starriest sky we’ve ever seen.
